Performing Arts

Welcome to the Performing Arts program at Preston Primary, specifically designed for students in Prep to Grade 3. Our program focuses on developing skills in Drama, Music, and Dance, providing students with the opportunity to explore and express their creativity while learning key practices in these three performing arts areas.

The program consists of 50-minute sessions each week, which are based on the Victorian Curriculum for Drama, Dance, and Music. Our experienced and dedicated teachers ensure that students are engaged in their learning through a range of interactive and dynamic activities that cater to different learning styles.

As part of our commitment to developing literacy skills, we have implemented a Word of the Week program, which introduces students to the foundations of specific Performing Arts language each lesson. This program supports students in understanding the technical terms and vocabulary used in Drama, Music, and Dance.

To complement and support learning, we also incorporate ICT (Information and Communications Technology) into our program. This helps students to develop their digital literacy skills while providing them with additional resources and tools to enhance their learning experience.

Throughout the program, students will have the opportunity to present and perform their work to an audience, building their confidence and self-esteem. We believe that performing arts education is a vital aspect of a well-rounded education, providing students with valuable life skills such as teamwork, communication, and creativity.

We invite you to explore our Performing Arts program and see for yourself how our innovative and engaging teaching approach is helping our students to develop their performing arts skills while having fun and enjoying their learning journey.
